School codes and PINs — where they come from

The Pachu office issues them. There is nothing for a school to install or set up.

  1. The Pachu office opens the Office page, types the school’s code and presses “Make a PIN”. A 6-digit PIN is created for that code.
  2. The office gives that code and PIN to the school — on the phone, or in person.
  3. The school signs in on the School board with the code and the PIN, and sees only its own pupils.
  4. Families type the same school code on the join form, which is what puts a child on that school’s board.
  5. Lost the PIN? The office makes a new one for the same code. The old PIN stops working straight away.

Why a PIN and not just the code: the school code is on every application, so a code on its own would let anyone read a neighbouring school’s list of children. The PIN is issued deliberately, one per school.

How a student gets their reference

It is made for them. There is no ID to invent and no password to forget.

  1. A student, a parent or a teacher fills in the join form: who is filling it in, the student’s name, a mobile number, the school code, the division and the language paper.
  2. The moment it saves, the site creates the reference itself — PC- followed by six characters, such as PC-4A2B19. Nobody chooses it and no two children share one.
  3. That reference is shown on screen and it is what the family keeps. Write it down.
  4. To sign in at My practice: the reference plus the mobile number given on the application. Both have to match, so a reference on its own is no use to anyone else.

Lost the reference? The Pachu office can read it back off the application — ring or message us.

Questions we have been asked

Is there a dedicated administrative interface for generating school codes?

Yes — the Office page. It is the only place a school PIN can be made, it is passcode-protected, and only Pachu staff hold that passcode. Schools and teachers do not generate their own; the office issues the PIN and hands it over, so Pachu always knows which schools are on the system.

Is there a student registration page where students create their own IDs, or are IDs generated automatically?

There is a registration page — the join form — and the ID is generated automatically. A student never picks one. They fill the form, the reference appears on the screen, and that reference with their mobile number is their sign-in from then on.
